Auxiliary verbs like "IS, AM, ARE, BE, WAS, WERE, BEEN" can be used without main verbs, which describes that status, condition, position, situation etc of a human being or other things remains as it is, remained as it was in the past or will remain stable in the future. (Urdu Meaning: Hum "IS, AM, ARE, BE, WAS, WERE, BEEN" Ko Verbs K Bager Bhi Use Karten Hen Jis Ka Matlab Hai K Kisi Bhi Insaan Ya Dosri Chezon Ki Halat Ya Jaga etc Muqarer Rehti Hai, Rehti Thi, Ya Rehe Gi)

  • She used to be a musician. (Urdu Meaning: Woh Ek Musician Hoa Karti Thi)


Sometimes we can use “GET” instead of “IS/AM/ARE” before some adjectives.

For Example:

Children are interested in playing. (Urdu Meaning: Bache Khelne Mai Interested Hen)
Children get interested in playing. (both sentences are the same)

I was busy. (Urdu Meaning: Mai Masroof Tha)
I got busy. (both sentences are the same)

We use “HAVE/HAS/HAD BEEN” without verbs to mention a time duration in which a human being or other things still continues/continued its status, condition, presence etc.

I am ill. (No Time Duration) (Urdu Meaning: Mai Bemar Hon)
I have been ill for two weeks. (Time Duration Mentioned) (Urdu Meaning: Mai 2 Hafte Se Bemar Hon)

I was ill last month. (No Time Duration) (Urdu Meaning: Mai Pichle Mahine Bemar Tha)

I had been ill for two weeks last month. (Time Duration Mentioned (Urdu Meaning: Mai Pichle Mahine 2 Hafte Tak Bemar Tha)

We use “HAVE/HAS BEEN TO SOMEWHERE” to say that a person went somewhere and came back now. (Urdu Meaning: Jab Koi Shaks Kisi Jaga Se Ho Kar Wapis Ajaye)

I have been to Canada two times. (Urdu Meaning: Mai 2 Dafa Canada Ho Kar Aa Chuka Hon)
Have you ever been to Brazil(Urdu Meaning: Kiya Ap Isse Pehle Kabhi Brazil Ja Chuke Hen?)
She has never been to any Zoo(Urdu Meaning: Woh Aj Tak Kabhi Bhi Koi Zoo Nahi Gaye Hai)

(1) Future Simple Tense for Beginner Level Students


What is Future Simple Tense?
We use Future Simple Tense when we make a decision at the time of speaking. We have not made any plans before at the time of speaking. (Urdu Meaning: Jo Kaam Karne Ka Fesla Ap Abhi Foran Karahe Hen, Us Kaam K Liye Hum Future Simple Tense Istemal Karte Hen)


Part (a)
Basic Rules of Future Simple Tense
We use first form of verb like walk, sleep, drive etc
We use auxiliary verb “WILL” which agree with all subjects in a sentence:

  • I will contact you. (Urdu Meaning: Mai Apse Rabta Karonga/Karongi)
  • They will punish us. (Urdu Meaning: Woh Loog Hume Saza Denge)

(2) Future Simple Tense for Intermediate Level Students


We use Future Simple Tense for the following reasons:

Part (a)
We use Future Simple Tense when we decide to do something at the time of speaking. (Urdu Meaning: Jab Hum Koi Kaam Karne Ka Foran Fesla Karen)

For example:
Person A: Did you fix the sink? (Urdu Meaning: Kiya Apne Besan Thek Kara Tha?)
Person B: No, sorry I forgot. I will fix it today. (Urdu Meaning: Nahi, Sorry Mai Bhol Gya Tha/Gayi Thi. Mai Aj Isse Thek Kar Don Ga/Gi)

Person A: What would you like to have? A cup of tea or coffee? (Urdu Meaning: Ap Kiya Lena Pasand Karenge? Ek Cup Chaye ya Coffee?
Person B: I will have coffee please. (Urdu Meaning: Mai Coffee Piyon Ga/Gi)

Person A: Are you ready to work more? (Urdu Meaning: Kiya Ap Mazeed Kaam Karne K Liye Tayyar Hen?)
Person B: I think I will take some rest. (Urdu Meaning: Mere Khiyal Hai Mai Thoda Aaram Karon Ga/Gi)

Person A: Will you buy the black car? (Urdu Meaning: Kiya Ap Woh Kali Gari Khareden Ge?)

We use Future Simple Tense when you promise. (Urdu Meaning: Jab Hum Koi Kaam Karne Ka Wada Karen)

Person A: Please don't be late. (Urdu Meaning: Please Late Mat Hona)
Person B: I promise I will come on time. (Urdu Meaning: Mai Wada Karta/Karti Hon K Mai Time Per Aonga/Aongi)
  • I will not play shooting games again. (Urdu Meaning: Mai Aindah Shooting Games Nahi Khelon Ga/Khelon Gi)
  • Thank you for giving me your book. I will give it back to you tomorrow. (Urdu Meaning: Mujhe Apni Kitab Dene Ka Shukriya. Mai Isse Apko Kal Wapis Kardon Ga/Kardon Gi)


Part (c)
We use Future Simple Tense when we agree to do something. (Urdu Meaning: Jab Hum Koi Kaam Karne K Liye Razi Hojayen)

For example:
Person A: I need some money. (Urdu Meaning: Mujhe Kuch Pesson Ki Zarorat Hai)
Person B: Ok, I will lend you some money for few weeks. (Urdu Meaning: Thek Hai, Mai Apko Kuch Hafton K Liye Kuch Pese Udhar De Donga/Dongi)

Person A: Kim is really a good player. I think you should give him a chance. (Urdu Meaning: Kim Ek Acha Khilari Hai. Mere Khityal Se Apko Isse Ek Chance Dena Chahiye)
Person B: Alright! We will consider his abilities later. (Urdu Meaning: Thek Hai! Hum Baad Mai Iski Qabliyat Per Gour Karen Ge)


Part (d)
We use Future Simple Tense when we offer help to someone or show our willingness to do something. (Urdu Meaning: Jab Hum Kisi Ki Madad Karna Chah Rahe Hon)

For example:
Person A: I have problem understanding algebra. (Urdu Meaning: Mujhe Algebra Samajhne Mai Pareshani Hai)
Person B: Don't worry. I will teach you some algebra everyday. (Urdu Meaning: Fikar Mat Karen. Mai Apko Rozana Thodi Bht Algebra Sikha Donga/Dongi)

Person A: This sofa is so heavy. (Urdu Meaning: Ye Sofa Kafi Bhari Hai)
Person B: Wait! I will move it for you. (Urdu Meaning: Ruken! Mai Ap K Liye Isse Hata Don Ga/Gi)

We can also use "SHALL" to offer help to someone.
For example:
Shall I move this sofa for you? (Urdu Meaning: Kiya Mai Ap K Liye Ye Sofa Hata Don?)


Part (e)
We use Future Simple Tense when request someone to do something. (Urdu Meaning: Jab Hum Kisi se Guzarish /karen)

For example:
  • Will you please shut the window? I am feeling cold. (Urdu Meaning: Kiya Ap Meherbani Kar K KhirKi Ko Band Karenge? Muhe Sardi Lag Rahi Hai)


Part (f)
We use Future Simple Tense to make predictions. (Urdu Meaning: Jab Hum Peshan-Goye Karte Hen)

For example:
  • Angela has been practicing the violin for three months. She will definitely succeed in the competition. (Urdu Meaning: Angla Pichle 3 Mahino Se Violin Bajane Ki Practice Karahi Hai. Woh Muqable Mai Zaror Kamiyab Hogi)
  • The doctor has advised him to take care of his health. I expect he will not smoke from now on. (Urdu Meaning: Doctor Ne Usse Apni Sehat Ka Khiyal Rakhne Ka Mashwara Diya Hai. Mai Umeed Karti/Karti Hon K Woh Ab Se Cigarette Nahi Piye Ga)






(3) Use of "BE GOING TO DO" For All Level Of Students



Part (a)
"BE GOING TO DO" is another form of Future Simple Tense in which we have already decided to do something (unlike Future Simple Tense in which we are deciding at the time of speaking). (Urdu Meaning: "Be Going To Do" Mai Hum Pehle Se Hi Decide Kar Chuke Hote Hen K Hum Kiya Karne Jarahe Hen Jabke Future Simple Tense Mai Hum Ne Kaam Karna Pehle Se Decide Nahi Kiya Hota Hai) 


For example:
Present Simple Tense

(we are deciding at the time of speaking)

Be Going To Do

(we have already decided to do something)

Person A: Dan and Sarah are getting married next month. They have invited us to the wedding party. (Urdu Meaning: Dan Orr Sarah Agle Hafte Shaadi Karahe Hen. Unhon Ne Hume Apni Shadi Pe Dawat Di Hai)
Person B: That’s good news! I will definitely attend their wedding party. (Urdu Meaning: Ye To Achi Khabar Hai! Mai Zaror Unki Shadi Mai Shareek Hon Ga/Gi)
Person A: Dan and Sarah are getting married next month. They have invited us to the wedding party.

We use "Be Going To Do" for strong predictions while we use Future Simple Tense for normal prediction.

Look at the clouds. It is too dark. It is going to rain tonight. (Urdu Meaning: Badal Ki Taraf Dekho. Ye Kitna Kala Hai. Aj Raat Barish Hone Jarahi Hai) 


Part (c)
We use "Be going To Do" in the past for incomplete actions. (Urdu Meaning:Hum "Be going To Do" Ko Maazi Mai Istemal Karte Hen Jab Hume Ye Batana Ho K Hum Koi Kaam Karne Wale The)

For example:
I was going to call you immediately, but my cellphone battery level was almost finished. (Urdu Meaning: Mai Apko Call Karne Jarha Tha/Jarahi Thi Lekin Mere Cellphone Ki Battery Taqreban Khatam Hogye Thi)
We were going to play in the garden, but it rained. (Urdu Meaning: Hum Garden Mai Khele Jarahe The, Magar Barish Hogaye Thi)





(4) Future Continuous Tense For All Level Of Students




What is Future Continuous Tense?
We use Future Continuous Tense when we will be in the middle of doing something at a particular time in the future. (Urdu Meaning: Jab Hum Future Mai Koi Kaam Karahe Honge)

Basic Rules of Future Continuous Tense
We use continuous form of verb like walking, sleeping, driving etc

We use auxiliary verb “WILL BE” which agree with all subjects in a sentence:

  • Please do not call me between 5 to 7. I will be watching football match on TV. (Urdu Meaning: Baraye Meherbani 5 Se 7 Bje K Darmiyan Mujhe Call Mat Kijiye Ga. Mai TV Per Football Match Dekh Raha Hon Ga/Gi)
  • From 2 pm to 6 pm on Saturday, we will be cleaning our shop. (Urdu Meaning: Saturday Ko Dopahar 2 Bje Se Sham 4 Bje Tak Hum Apni Dukan Ki Safaye Karahe Hon Ge)
  • When you go out of the airport, your parents will be waiting for you. (Urdu Meaning: Jab Ap Airport Se Bahir Niklen Ge To Apke Parents Apka Intezar Karahe Hon Ge)
  • Peter can't come tomorrow. He will be working all day. (Urdu Meaning: Kal Peter Nahi Asakta. Woh Pure Din Kam Karaha Ho Ga)

Person A: What is she doing tomorrow at 10:00? (Urdu Meaning: Woh Kal 10 Bje Kiya Karahi Hai?)
Person B: She is going to orphanage tomorrow. She will be spending some time with children there. (Urdu Meaning: Woh Kal Yateeem-Khane Jarahi Hai. Woh Wahan Bachon K Sath Apna Kuch Waqt Guzar Rahi Hon Gi)

We use Future Perfect Tense when something will be over before or at a particular time in the future. (Urdu Meaning: Jab Future Mai Koi Kaam Hum Khatam Kar Chuke Honge)

Basic Rules of Future Perfect Tense
We use third form of verb like walked, slept, driven etc
We use auxiliary verb “WILL BE” which agree with all subjects in a sentence:

Examples:

  • We will have finished our work by 7:45 pm. You can visit us at 8 o'clock. (Urdu Meaning: Hum Sham 7:45 Bje Tak Apna Kaam Khatam Kar Chuke Hon Ge. Ap 8 Bje Humare Pas Asakte Hen) 
  • The movie is not too long. It will have ended by evening. (Urdu Meaning: Movie Zyadah Lambi Nahi Hai. Sham Tak Ye Khatam Ho Chuki Hogi)
  • Your elder brother will have married by the time you turn 20. (Urdu Meaning: Jab Tak Ap 20 Saal K Ho Ge, Us Waqt Tak Apke Bare Bhai Shadi Kar Chuke Honge)
  • The company will have manufactured ten thousand cars by the end of May. (Urdu Meaning: Company May K Akhri Hafte Tak 10 Hazar Gariyan Bana Chuki Hogi)
  • By the time time we reach there, all guests will have gone home. (Urdu Meaning: Jab Tak Hum Wahan Pohonche Ge, Sare Mehman Apne Ghar Ja Chuke Hon Ge)

Person A: When do think you will have got your masters degree? (Urdu Meaning: Apke Khiyal Se Ap Apni Masters Ki Degree Kab Tak Hasil Kar Chuke Hon Ge?)
Person B: Hopefully, I will have got my masters degree by 2016. (Urdu Meaning: Umeed Hai K Mai Saal 2016 Tak Apni Masters Ki Degree Hasil Kar Chuka Hon Ga/Gi)

Homework: Change the sentences in part (b) examples into negative and interrogative sentences.

Remember to use time expressions like "BY 2004, BY THE END OF APRIL, BY THE TIME" etc.
